‘The Last of Us’ Easter Egg Spotted In The Sims 4
An easter egg possibly referencing Naughty Dog’s 2013 masterpiece The Last of Us has been spotted in The Sims 4.
Sims 4 has a Last of Us reference in it 🥲😍 pic.twitter.com/weWYBwQDxD— Katarina ✨ Abby Stan Account (@AbbyStanAccount) June 28, 2022
This easter egg was pointed out by Twitter user AbbyStanAccount, who posted an image of one of the game’s plant decorations, Jerry’s Reeds. The description for this plant contains references to The Last of Us such as St. Mary’s Hospital, the name of the hospital Joel escorted Ellie to.
If that wasn’t enough, the description also mentions vaccines “intended to counter parasitic fungal infections, other than its ability to attract fireflies”.
The Fireflies were a militia group fighting to free the country from America’s oppressive military authority and served as the antagonist faction towards the end of the game.
This isn’t the first easter egg in The Sims 4 to have made references to other IPs, as even the Soot Sprites from Spirited Away have been found in the past. In the game’s Island Living DLC, you can also find a mural of the two main characters from Disney’s Moana.
We’re unsure whether this reference has always been in the game or if it is a new addition due to the recently announced remake, The Last of Us Part I.
