Now that Lionsgate is officially making the new TheHunger Games prequel, the film has been adding quite a bit of cast in a very short period of time. The latest addition to The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes cast is none other than Euphoria star Hunter Schafer.

Lionsgate has been making one announcement after another, and it appears the cast is going to be quite the star-studded affair. It seems that Hunter Schafer could be among the key headliners of the cast of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as she'll play the cousin and confidant of Coriolanus Snow, Tigris.

That would seem to mean that Schafer will play one of the main villains of this new Hunger Games prequel, starring opposite Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler. Zegler takes on the role of Lucy Gray, the girl tribute from the impoverished District 12. While all three of these actors are new to the series, those in charge of the project appear to be old hands.

Francis Lawrence, who directed three of the four original The Hunger Games movies, is returning to do this new prequel. Nina Jacobson and her partner Brad Simpson are also back as producers. This is the first blockbuster film or really film of any kind that Schafer has appeared in after breaking out in her role as Jules in Euphoria.

According to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel takes place years ahead of the events in The Hunger Games' original films. Not-yet-President Coriolanus Snow is an 18-year-old boy that is trying to salvage the reputation of a family whose strength and influence are on the decline. When the 10th annual Hunger Games takes place, the young Snow runs across a defiant girl, Lucy Gray Baird, who dares to sing during the event's opening ceremony. He soon realizes that he might be able to find a way to rise to power and influence once again, and it appears that Hunter Schafer, as Tigris Snow, will help him along the way.

Schafer is indeed a newcomer to the screen after starting her career as a model, but it's taken no time for her to find significant popularity among the Euphoria fanbase. Those fans have been rooting for Hunter Schafer to be cast in a project that would allow her to take advantage of her unique look, and it appears that this new movie could certainly do that.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is scheduled for release on November 17, 2023.
